The metering module is a transducer, which is used to convert the force into an electrical signal. This transformation is indirect and takes place in two stages. Through a mechanical device, the sensed force deforms the strain gauge. The strain gauge as an electrical signal measures the deformation (strain) because the strain changes the effective electrical resistance wire. The weighing module is usually configured by four strain gauges in Wheatstone Bridge. One strain gauge (quarter bridge) or two strain gauges (half bridge) of the weighing module are also available. The output electrical signals are usually in the order of several millivolts and need to be amplified by a weighing instrument amplifier before they can be used. It can also be extended to the output of the transducer where the calculated force is applied to the transducer.
